India: ICAO calls out DGCA for not complying with recommendation to introduce licensing system for ATCOs

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has taken to task the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for not establishing a license system for air traffic controllers (ATCOs) in India even after six years after it issued its recommendation. The five-man ICAO team that conducted the audit in November of last year uncovered the lapse. ICAO sending team to India to review if ATCO oversight is being met

Two months after it audited India’s aviation sector, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is once again sending a team back to examine whether the oversight requirement of air traffic controllers (ATCO) is being complied with. The move comes after the ICAO audited Indian aviation under its universal safety oversight audit program back in November. Airlines for Europe calls for solution to escalating air traffic control delays

Airlines for Europe (A4E) has called the attention of Europe’s air navigation service providers (ANSPs) regarding rising air traffic control delays. The lobbying group reported that insufficient planning of air traffic control (ATC) resources, along with capacity constraints, has resulted in two million minutes of delays in July—a rise of 12% on the figure for 2016 and 35% more than in 2015. House committee green lights FAA bill privatizing US air traffic control

The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure on Tuesday has ratified a six-year Federal Aviation Administration bill that would privatize the United States air traffic control (ATC) system. The day also saw another development as the committee passed amendments that would place minimum standards on aircraft seat configurations and would advocate labor standards for European airlines entering the U.S. market.
