Kenya Airways took a step closer to being able to fly direct to the United States after it was recently granted air traffic rights. From there, it becomes a waiting game as the airline now awaits other important licenses, said Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia. US DOT grants Kenya Airways Foreign Air Carrier Permit

Kenya Airways has been granted exemption authority and more importantly, a tentative Foreign Air Carrier Permit (FACP) by the United States Department of Transportation (DOT). Kenya’s national carrier filed an application in April. The issuance of the FACP will, however, will still depend on show-cause procedures. Kenyan government sets out to protect national carrier

The Kenyan government has delayed the issuance of licenses to 35 airlines, which wanted to increase their number of flights to the capital, in an effort to aid the country’s national carrier, Kenya Airways.
